Maria Vailant joined the Cooper Dual Language Academy in 2003. Currently, she teaches fourth grade, but has also taught fifth and third grade. Mrs. Vailant believes all children should be treated as unique and special individuals. She differentiates her teaching to accommodate each student’s mode of learning. Mrs. Vailant is determined to provide students with a positive and safe learning environment, that will give them the confidence to take risks, in order for them to grow to their full potential. Additionally, she aims to prepare students for the future and help them develop their reading, writing, and social skills to be college and career ready.
Mrs. Vailant earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Psychology at National Louis University in 2002. She obtained her Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an ESL Endorsement at Concordia University in 2012. Presently, Mrs. Vailant is attending, for the third year, the Teacher Leader Institute provided by Loyola University in order to assist Cooper school’s transition into the Next Generation Science Standards. In her free time, Mrs. Vailant loves spending time with her family, traveling, knitting, and practicing photography.
