El Sello de Biliteracidad de Illinois se estableció para reconocer a los graduados de escuelas secundarias públicas que han alcanzado un alto nivel de dominio del inglés y uno o más idiomas. Este premio es otorgado por un distrito escolar en reconocimiento a los estudiantes que han estudiado y alcanzado el dominio del inglés y uno o más idiomas al graduarse de la escuela secundaria. El Sello de Biliteracidad reconoce el valor de los esfuerzos académicos de los estudiantes, los beneficios tangibles de ser bilingües y biliteral y prepara a los estudiantes para ser ciudadanos del mundo del siglo 21. El Sello de Biliteracidad reconoce que el dominio de dos o más lenguajes es una destreza muy valiosa tanto para los individuos como para sus comunidades.

What is the Seal of Biliteracy?
The Seal of Biliteracy is an award given by a school, school district or county office of education in recognition of students who have studied and attained proficiency in two or more languages by high school graduation. The Seal of Biliteracy takes the form of a gold seal that appears on the transcript or diploma of the graduating senior and is a statement of accomplishment for future employers and for college admissions. In addition to the Seal of Biliteracy that marks attainment of high level mastery of two or more languages, schools and districts are also instituting Bilingual Pathway Awards, recognizing significant steps towards developing biliteracy along a student's trajectory from preschool into high school.
