Socorro Reyes’s career began when working in Cooper Dual Language in 2013 in a temporary position. Then in 2014 she landed a permanent position as Pre-school special education (SECA) Teacher Assistant, This year will be her fourth year working at Cooper school. Before working at Cooper Socorro worked as a staff member watching over kids for parents who assisted St. Augustine College. This is the same college where Socorro completed her 76 credit hours in Early Childhood Development; education for kids is her passion.
Socorro in her 40 years of marriage lives with her husband and Ebony, their pet dog Chihuahua mix. Ebony is now 15 human years old and is also blind. Socorro has four children and nine grandchildren. Three children are married and one daughter that is single lives in Los Angeles, California. During Socorro’s free time she volunteers her time to the community and Holy Cross Church as an instructor for “Parenting” classes and lecture of ministry. During summer she likes to jog at the park and after taking four semesters in the culinary arts at St. Augustine College she also enjoys cooking, her specialty is pastries. For thirty years Socorro has worked and is licensed in Illinois as a cosmetologist and hairdresser.
