Maria Miranda began her educational career at a private school teaching kindergarten and second grade. She joined Cooper Dual Language Academy in 2000 as a bilingual second grade teacher and currently teaches third grade. She has enjoyed working in the evolving Pilsen community and appreciates its strong cultural heritage. Ms. Miranda holds a Bachelors of Science Degree and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with ESL and bilingual endorsements, both from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Ms. Miranda believes that supporting the students home language and culture helps them value their identity. She encourages all students to achieve their highest potential by providing them the educational tools they need to be lifelong learners. Ms. Miranda also believes in providing a safe environment from which everyone respects, learns and grows together. Ms. Miranda enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with family.
