Hello, my name is Ms. Rocio Gonzalez! I earned my Bilingual Teaching Degree in Mexico. In 2001, I was recruited and selected to come to Chicago, Illinois in a teacher exchange program, sponsored by Chicago Public Schools. I have been teaching for more than 20 years. This is my eighth year teaching at Cooper School. While teaching at Chicago Public School, I have had the opportunity to earn three different masters degree in education, in order to be updated and more prepared to guide my students to be able to reach their learning goals.
I enjoy being a bilingual teacher. I like to guide my Spanish speakers to enhance their skills, establish a sense of identity and prepare them well for their futures. Teaching in two different languages help me to act as a liaison between two distinct, complex cultures. In my free time, I like to run and train during the year to participate in different races; I like to cook, but not to wash the dishes; and my favorite hobby is to travel around the world.
