Maria Fernandez is a Head Start teacher at Cooper Dual Language Academy. She has been teaching preschool for thirteen years. However, she has been teaching for about 25 years. She has worked in the public schools of Chicago, Michigan, and El Paso. She earned her Master's Degree in Special Education at Loyola University of Chicago. Her teaching certificates include Early Childhood and Special Education. She has endorsements in Bilingual Education and ESL.
Ms. Fernandez strives to provide a nurturing, stimulating, and enriching environment that supports positive character development and builds the foundational skills students need in order to become successful learners. She believes in the importance of establishing positive relationships with families. Parental involvement is vital to ensure student success.
In her free time, Ms. Fernandez takes Italian classes, explores Chicago, listens to music, and spends time with her family and friends. She makes the most of her summers by travelling in and outside of the United States.
