Yuli Chan joined the Cooper Dual Language Academy staff in 2003 as a kindergarten teacher. This is her thirteenth year as a teacher at Cooper, and her fourteenth year as a Chicago Public School teacher. Ms. Chan provides a nurturing and high-quality learning environment that promotes lifelong learners and independent thinkers. Ms. Chan integrates differentiated instruction, ESL strategies, and technology into her classroom to enhance students’ learning. Ms. Chan uses meaningful data to guide her instructional planning. She strongly believes that guided reading is an effective way to meet the needs of all learners.
Ms. Chan earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education at Northeastern Illinois University and Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with an ESL endorsement at American College of Education. She has many hobbies such as origami, coin collecting, and gardening. She likes to travel to different parts of Asian and Caribbean with her family. She is also fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin.
