Ms. Karla Alvarez

Karla Alvarez joined the Cooper Dual Language Academy staff in 1998 as a first grade teacher. This is her 17th year at Cooper, and her 17th  year as a Chicago Public School teacher.  Ms. Alvarez believes that every student deserves a high quality education, to be inspired and challenged at Cooper Dual Language Academy. Ms. Alvarez believes in a differentiated instructional approach to ensure every student reaches his/her potential.


Ms. Alvarez earned a Bachelor degree in Liberal Art and Science and a Masters in Elementary Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago. In her free time, she does hot yoga, listens to music and read books.  She also spends time with her two boys. Her favorites places to visit: Disney World and the beach. ​
